What’s New?
Our ‘Accelerated Reading Scheme.’ Helping Our Students to Progress.
We are pleased to launch our ‘Accelerated Reading Scheme,’ to encourage our students to progress in their reading ability. However, at ‘Wirral 11+ Academy,’ we believe increasing your child’s desire to read for pleasure is key to advancing their reading ability. How? Simply by rewarding them with our bronze, silver and gold star reward system.
Achieve bronze, silver or gold stars & benefit from our exciting ‘Accelerated Reading Scheme’.
We believe setting realistic goals and attaining them helps children to progress and feel a sense of achievement. Why? Because it’s a positive experience that can help make their relationship with reading a positive one too! They will be able to choose their own book from our booklist that has been carefully selected with our students taste and ability in mind. These simple techniques help nurture in them a greater sense of enthusiasm to read. The ability to read is a priceless gift. Something we, at ‘Wirral 11+ Academy’ get excited about and we’re confident your child will too!
“If You Are Going to Get Anywhere In Life You Have to Read A Lot of Books!” – Roald Dahl
Roald Dahl’s sentiment here, is a statement we believe to be true! In fact, it’s scientifically backed! No, we’re not making it up! The majority of learning and understanding starts with reading. Would you agree? It’s a fundamental key that helps our young children understand the world around them and their place in it. It’s also essential to progressing in their understanding and learning ability, which envelopes all aspects of their lives as they mature into young adults. Therefore, as they become better readers, you as parent’s will begin to notice it having positive effects on all of their other academic subjects at school.
Taking part in our ‘Accelerated Reading Scheme,’ will help us at ‘Wirral 11+ Academy’ better assess the progress of your child. Thus, we can tailor future reading material to their needs and abilities. This helps highlight and bring to our attention children who are struggling readers. If your child finds reading difficult, be assured, it does not mean that they’re not smart. All children progress at different speeds and it may mean that they just need a little assistance approaching it differently, or simply making sure they have the appropriate book for their level of reading. One that’s better suited to them. One that heightens their interest.
